More than just a tools organizer December 31, 2008 I got this product (not from Amazon, but from Lowes) to organize my Lego NXT set (the original NXT box is not very "durable") and it is great! The removable compartments are very handy as well. My only regret of buying it, is that the lid only opens up to a 90-100 angle. Other than that, its a great product!
Stable & sturdy. December 14, 2008 I won't say I'm as impressed as the other reviewers; I haven't found the rearrangable compartments to be some sort of miracle to hobbyists. Nor are there quite enough of the large ones. It's fine for storing resistors and other small bits, but when it comes to some of the larger things I need to store - i.e., drill bits, batteries - it starts to come up a bit short.
That said:
1) The compartments *are* very stable when the organizer is closed. Large plastic protrusions close at each corner of the compartments to hold them still.
2) The compartments reach the cover. Don't worry about anything spilling when it's held vertically.
3) It closes securely. I've had no spills, even after several accidental drops.
4) It's very light. The weight you carry is essentially the weight of what you put inside of it.
5) High-quality plastic: I expect this to last for ages.
Like I said, I'm not as overwhelmed as some other reviewers. On the whole, though, it was a good buy, and if I need more storage (for small items), this would be a sure purchase.
Not so great November 20, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this case probably six months or so ago, and haven't used it since. I'd bought it in the hopes of using it as an odds and ends storage container for nails, screws, bolts, etc. It works well for the larger items, but the minute you hold it as intended, the smaller pieces fall through the cracks into the other bins, defeating the purpose of the separate bins.
While it's still a usable tote, I found the Plano brand (looks like a lunchbox) to be better suited for what I needed. The difference between the two being Plano's method of carrying the smaller bits. Rather than have the cartons tipped on their side, they're always laying flat. The stanley organizing case works against itself.
I'll probably end up using it for larger items that are still small enough to fit into the separate bins, but be advised that the case is not suited to carrying small nails and parts.
Good product. October 28, 2008 Very good organizer. Overall a fair price for a good product. Wish it was available in metal
get organized October 25, 2008 i've tried organizers before with little sucess.coffee cans and old coffee cups did the job quite well. I purchased three stanley 014725r 25 organizers and was very pleased. The items actually stay in the bin where you put them. The bins are also removable so you can take different items to point of use, this aviods the enevatable "pick-up a million screw game". It is so well built and very sturdy that I ordered 6 more for to give to other tradesman so they dont "misplace" mine onto their trucks.
